Stephen Brunton is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Touro University. His practice is in the inner city of Los Angeles, CA. Dr Brunton earned his medical degree at Monash University Medical School in Melbourne, Australia, and served his internship at Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. Following on from this, he completed his residency in family medicine at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, CA. Dr Brunton’s main clinical interest is in Type 2 diabetes management.
Dr Brunton is currently the Executive Vice-President of the Primary Care Education Consortium, and Executive Director of the Primary Care Metabolic Group. He is Editor in Chief of Clinical Diabetes, an editorial board member of Consultant 360 Diabetology and is a reviewer for American Family Physician, Southern Medical Journal, Journal of Family Practice, Expert Review of Endocrinology & Metabolism and BMC Family Practice. Throughout his career, Dr Brunton has received many awards including the Munzer Family Award (1997) for excellence in local and national education and research, the Barbara Harris Memorial Award from the California Academy of Family Physicians (1991) for educational excellence, the John P McGovern Award from the American Medical Writers Association (1992) and the Merit Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians (1991). Over the years, Dr Brunton has published numerous articles, book chapters and monographs on family medicine and related clinical topics.
